I want to share a story with all of you regarding my experience with my mother being involved with scammers for close to three years now. I always knew that my mother was buying the romance scammers gift cards, and I assumed that the gift cards were Visa or Mastercard to be used to purchase anything. My mother has been told repeatedly by the romance scammer that the gift cards she purchased were not usable so that she would in turn go and purchase another card. Recently she was told that a $500.00 gift card was no good, I asked her to take a picture of the card and to my surprise it was an Apple gift card. I called the phone number on the back of the gift card to see if I could get additional information on the gift card. The customer service was very helpful, I told them my story and I confirmed that the gift cards could only be used for Apple products. My mother was told they were going to use the gift card for airfare to come to see my mother. Evidently the scammers had an Apple account and would purchase Apple products to resale I assume. With the information I provided from the gift card they were able to deactivate the card and give me instructions to get the money back. It was such a win for me that day because most of the time I feel very frustrated and alone in this battle.
