I know with the cost of goods and services going up so much in the past few years we are all watching our budgets. So, when an opportunity to earn extra income somehow finds us through email or text, it does spark our curiosity. The majority of the time we were not even looking for a job. I have received numerous emails from people who were contacted by a company that had a very legitimate website offering employment and later found out that it was a scam. Some signs that a job offer is a scam are when the company asks for a credit card in order to apply for a job or asks you to pay for training in order to be hired by the company. I have received unsolicited texts that look like they are coming from an employment placement company offering a management position making between $40 to $120 dollars per hour. First of all, they know nothing about my experience and the hourly rate seems very high. When I do not answer the text right away someone will text me again until I engage in a conversation. I will just block them and report it as spam. The best thing to do is Google the name of the company and put reviews next to it, the search will come up with information telling you whether it is a scam. Again, if it seems too good to be true, it actually is too good to be true.
