I have had several people contact me to share their story regarding their own experience with their banking institution. There are some very large banks out there that employee many people, safeguards are used when hiring their employees. Unfortunately, sometimes there are a few bad apples that somehow get in. It used to be that it was a necessity to go into the bank and deposit checks or withdrawal money. People would get to know their local bank employees. Now, technology has made our lives easier so that we really never need to step inside our local bank. Monitoring our bank accounts has become an essential habit to be done a couple of times a week. If someone does contact you by phone and says that they are from your bank, tell them you are in the middle of something. When you hang up, call your local branch to verify if there is an issue with your account. Banks do have a lot of ways to prevent theft, but we also have to remember that nothing is failproof. There are too many people out there that are happy to scam people instead of actually making money a legitimate way.
